- derek G 10/04/2020Rooms are decorated lovely, the staff are helpful and very friendly, and it's near everythingread moreread lessD T 4/04/2019Can't fault the Victoria hotel despite the extensive building work going on when we stayed. Lovely extensive breakfast with so much food and choice, we left stuffed so we weren't hungry all day. Dinner the evening before was pretty tasty. Victoria is a city hotel stuck down in a tight spot but very close to Eyre Square, and all the centre of activities in the city, and its staff and workers are all very welcoming and helpful. The bedroom wasn't huge but the beds were comfortable, having a bath and a shower in the spacious bathroom was wonderful, loads of hot water and all you could need. The decor is tasteful, everything worked. The window was pretty dirty but as it's mid-winter and it was dark when we got in, following a hospital appointment, we pulled the very heavy curtains and slept very well. Great location for doing Galway City on foot and leaving the car behind, as Galway city is NOT recommended for a visitor to bring a car into. Thank you Victoria Hotel, we enjoyed your hospitality.read moreread lessRoam531104 4/03/2022Great hotel! Great location! great staff! Will return whenever in Galway. I stayed with my 15-year-old granddaughter for two nights. I loved its accessibility to the train, first of all. We had a brilliant deal for those over 55 staying for 2 nights with 2 breakfasts and 2 full, delicious dinners. Our waitress, Dearbhla, became our guide and best pal. She found out we had come from Kilkee and brought out the lovely cook, Celine, to meet us because she hailed from there. Dearblha went out of her way to get to know us and made a list of all the shops and places to get the things we were after. Celine's cuisine was delicious and beautifully arranged. The girl at the front desk, whose name I didn't get, was also very accommodating. They went above and beyond to make sure our stay was wonderful. I will recommend it to all I know who visit Galway in the future and will return myself. Our room was very clean and comfortable. I only wish I had taken a a picture of Dearbhla and Celine. Cheers! We got here 3 hours early but we got us into our room 15 mins after we arrived and the gent on the desk offered great advice and was very helpful. We waited in the bar and got drinks and eggs Florentine for breakfast. That was the only downside. The portion was tiny but in fairness tasted great. Not good value for money. All in all the staff are great and specially our server in the restaurant. I know it's rough times for everyone in hospitality at the moment having just reopened but you're doing a great job. Hats off.
