Myself and my friend recently stayed for two nights at the Victoria Hotel - Galway. Upon arrival we were greeted by the friendly receptionist. We had a brought a bottle of prosecco with us to have as a celebration in our room. The receiptionist directed us to the warm and friendly front of house staff (Dearbhla), who kindly opened the bottle for us and provided us with an ice bucket to chill. We ate in the restaurant that evening and the food was incredible!! We both got the sea bass which was superb, along with the creamy sauce and chorizo. The hotel rooms were very clean and if we required anything else (such as an iron/ironing board), we were seen to immediately. - kmacginty 6/14/2022Jewel in the heart of Galway city From the moment we arrived at the Victoria, we were uplifted by the warmth of the reception we received in this gem of a hotel. Just off Eyre Square, a two minute amble from Ceannt Station, this hotel hardly could be better located. Tired after an eventful trip by bus and rail (don't ask) from Dublin, we decided to dine at the hotel's own Queen Street gastro bar. Mary has the crusted bass and I went for the Queen Stack burger. Both were splendid and decent value too. Even more impressive was the friendliness and efficiency of Paddy and the team. The room, No 306, was spotless and comfortable and even boasted an Espresso machine. Breakfast the next morning was hearty, covering all bases from fresh croissants to a substantial fry, setting us up perfectly for an eventful day on the Aran Islands (shuttle bus to Connemara Aerodrome stops right outside the front door). Then back for a night to remember in Galway's Latin Quarter ... even on a Monday the place was buzzing. For sure, we'll be back toGalway and The Victoria. - niamh195 2/02/2023Winter Warmer Package My boyfriend and I recently stayed in the hotel for one night and enjoyed the Winter Warmer package.
The room was very nice, as was the bathroom in the room.
We dined in Queen Street and were disappointed on arrival to see the menu was different and smaller than the one shown on the website. The food overall was nice but nothing special. Our starters were both very nice (Caesar salad and goats cheese) however our mains were not as good (burger which was dry and fish and chips). The service in Queen Street however was amazing and all the staff were very friendly and attentive.
When leaving the bar that night we enquired what time breakfast was served until the next morning and we were told 10:30, but when we arrived for breakfast at 10:10 the following morning we were told breakfast had stopped being served which was again, disappointing as we had breakfast included in our stay. The girl who was in the restaurant cleaning up told us we could take any of the continental breakfast that had not been put away yet back up to our room with us which we did.
Despite these few things, we still had a lovely stay and would return sometime in the future.read moreread lessElaine L 1/16/2023Great Nice hotel in an excellent location.
