The staff were super friendly and couldn't do enough to help us, a special shout out to the staff in Queen Street restaurant who helped take down all of our hen decorations. The girl at Reception I think her name is Zoe was fantastic at her job and was so very helpful and nice with it, also the Barman that was there Friday and Saturday night November 8th/9th he was so good at his job and friendly . - ebG6347MS 9/28/2021Victoria Hotel - Excellent service! Myself and my friend recently stayed for two nights at the Victoria Hotel - Galway. Upon arrival we were greeted by the friendly receptionist. We had a brought a bottle of prosecco with us to have as a celebration in our room. The receiptionist directed us to the warm and friendly front of house staff (Dearbhla), who kindly opened the bottle for us and provided us with an ice bucket to chill. We ate in the restaurant that evening and the food was incredible!! We both got the sea bass which was superb, along with the creamy sauce and chorizo. The hotel rooms were very clean and if we required anything else (such as an iron/ironing board), we were seen to immediately. Lovely extensive breakfast with so much food and choice, we left stuffed so we weren't hungry all day. Dinner the evening before was pretty tasty. Victoria is a city hotel stuck down in a tight spot but very close to Eyre Square, and all the centre of activities in the city, and its staff and workers are all very welcoming and helpful. The bedroom wasn't huge but the beds were comfortable, having a bath and a shower in the spacious bathroom was wonderful, loads of hot water and all you could need. The decor is tasteful, everything worked. The window was pretty dirty but as it's mid-winter and it was dark when we got in, following a hospital appointment, we pulled the very heavy curtains and slept very well. Great location for doing Galway City on foot and leaving the car behind, as Galway city is NOT recommended for a visitor to bring a car into. Thank you Victoria Hotel, we enjoyed your hospitality.read moreread less
- Joe M 10/19/2021A Gem in the City of the Tribes We stayed here recently for 3 nights and we would rate it as very good to excellent. Location is just off Eyre Square and most city attractions are within walking distance. Parking is available at nearby car park which may be complementary depending on what deal you made on your booking. The hotel may be a bit more expensive than some rivals but we feel it was worth it.
The hotel appeared to be very well maintained and plenty of Covid precautions available, although it was a pity that the hand gel dispenser at the main door did not work at any time over the 3 days. First impressions!!.
Staff were excellent and most courteous, from the housekeeping lady that allowed me jump the Que for the lift when I was bringing in the luggage to the reception staff that sorted out my parking.
The room was spotlessly clean and very well presented, although we both got a bit of a stale air smell when we entered the room as if it had not been opened up for a few days. Maybe good in these Covid times but again First Impressions.
The room was serviced each day with fresh towels and a general clean up.
Breakfast was table service and excellent both in variety and quality as well as quantity. They must have very good kitchen staff because we ate in the hotel for lunch one day and each night also and the fare was excellent. Same menu each night but there was enough for us to sample a variety of dishes.
So overall a big thumbs up to the establishment and if we were visiting the City of Tribes again, we would have no hesitation in staying here again.read moreread lessTed Smith 4/04/2017Great room, great staff and great bar with a central location. Hotel rooms are quite small. bed linen, duvet and pillows are a dream. bathroom a bit of a let down - no bath, fixture hanging off wall and I wouldn't be a fan of the opaque door that you couldn't actually close and didn't afford any privacy.
